Daybreak Bulky Yarn, Colorado-Grown Wool, 3.5 oz skein
$ 26.00
Our hand-painted Daybreak Red Mesa Heritage Blend bulky yarn is a 50/50 blend of Colorado-Grown Corriedale & heritage Tunis wool** (sourced from our local farmer-friends), 2-ply mill-spun, in 3.5 oz skeins. The combination of Corriedale and heritage Tunis wool makes this yarn soft, bouncy, and elastic, with an amazing bloom (read more about why we call it Red Mesa Heritage Blend yarn here). Grown in Colorado and spun in the USA, this is not your average yarn!
Our 'Daybreak' was inspired by our Southwest sunrises, when the sun crests the horizon, spilling gold across the eastern sky and highlighting clouds in rose. These spectacular displays are ephemeral, lasting only a few moments before fading into the light of day.
Skein info:
- Approx 3.5 oz skeins (100 grams)
- 100% Colorado-grown wool
- 120 yards, 9 WPI, 3.5 stitches/inch on size 9 U.S. (5.5mm) needles
- Handwash in lukewarm water and lay flat to dry
**Tunis is one of the oldest indigenous breeds in the United States, is relatively rare as recorded by the Livestock Conservancy, and was preferred by Thomas Jefferson over Merinos. Containing Leicester Longwool and Southdown genetics, this background gives Tunis fiber its soft and bouncy hand, qualities which it has lent to this yarn. (Much of the breed information is from Clara Parkes's The Knitter's Book of Wool.)
We attempt to represent our colors as accurately as possible, but your monitor/screen's settings may alter the display. Variations in color may occur, as each skein is painted by hand; we cannot guarantee perfectly matching colors between dye lots.
