Homegrown Shetland DK Yarn, Colorado-Grown

$ 30.00

We currently have 10 of this selection in stock.

Our homegrown Shetland 2-ply DK weight yarn is spun from the soft and silky wool of our shaela (charcoal) Shetland ewes. This yarn is grown, milled, & spun in Colorado! It has the character of homespun (variable thicknesses and consistency) at a fraction of the homespun price, giving you a lovely woolen yarn perfect for Fair Isle colorwork or whatever strikes your fancy.

We have been breeding our flock of heritage Shetland sheep for over 15 years toward soft fleeces with a good handle & staple length. We sustainably produce our wool on our three-generation family farm using rotational grazing, organically produced hay, solar power, non-lethal predator control, & organic methods.
